I went viral on tiktok, and it changed my life.

for the better, but also for the not so good..we’ll get into that.

I went viral during march of 2021, for my trauma. yea, my trauma. a high speed car chase to be exact. I actually didn’t want to bring tiktok over here to Lemon8, but my fellow girlies on here are showing me this is a place to be vulnerable. so PLZ do not try to go find my tiktok.

I didnt leave my house for 2 weeks after I went viral. suddenly 3.6 million people knew my trauma, and that scared me. I never made my video with intentions of going viral. I made my video (and all of the others following) as a way to cope with my trauma and all the shitty things that have happened to me.

we knew we went viral when my friends friend in california said we were on her fyp. it doesn’t sound like a big deal, but going viral truly does happen overnight, and it catches you by surprise. enough of me rambling, i’ll get into the good stuff.

it was REALLY fun after the initial shock. I had companies reaching out asking for the license rights of my videos (don’t EVER say yes to this) and then BAM I was signed to my marketing agency that i’m still with today. they’re the shit. I luv them. shoutout maria fr.

LOTS of brand deals and partnerships and all the fun stuff. i’ve gotten PR from selena gomez, signed as a brand athlete, and became part of the cheech n chong family (super proud of that one), offered a partnership with beatbox, among other things. I was in the creators fund and was making $200+ every live. I loved this. I basked in this.

and then reality set in. I had a stalker who made 6 accts to find me. I had people request all kinds of things from me (my underwear, certain poses on live, my TEARS in a bottle). I got doxxed. I mean, FULLY doxxed. cops and everything. I was whitelisted. I still am. I had friends see my ads and ask me about them. they screenshotted my ads and showed me saying how proud they were. I wasnt proud. this was my job and they didn’t view it as that. i had a young girl tell me i was the reason she stopped SH, and if i ever stopped posting, she would end her life. this was not a compliment. the internet never sleeps. it is constantly demanding content from you. twenty thousand people knew my trauma, and then some. it’s one thing to put yourself on the internet and go viral, it’s an entirely different thing to put your trauma on the internet and go viral. suddenly people know everything about you, and what they don’t know, they find out on their own.

I dont do tiktok anymore.

I recently was leaked again (my private snapchat username on a sketchy website). this privacy barrier has been broken for me time and time again because of tiktok. each time hurting more than the last. you know how they say you sell your soul for fame? you do. I fully believe this. I didnt sell my soul. what I did do, was lose a part of myself i’ll never get back no matter how hard I try. a part of me will always belong to the internet. when I think of this, I regret ever making that video.

I still do brand deals and am in partnerships (bc contracts shawty! lots of legal stuff in the social media world!!) but I dont post my trauma anymore. I dont share my pain anymore. sometimes I miss it; I miss helping people and being their voice. but I already WAS their voice, and I became labeled as only that voice. grwm’s? my viewers hated them. ootd’s? they hated those too. dancing videos? 8 views. a video that took 7 hours to edit and was passionate for me? shadowbanned. I post my trauma. I go viral. then 100K views on the next, then 300K views on the one after. THAT is what they wanted. but I didnt want to share that part of myself anymore. I wanted to protect that and have my privacy back. slowly, but surely, I think maybe someday i’ll get there, or close. because again, a part of me will always belong to the internet.
