Miles build the base…👇
but speed needs more than endurance.
1️⃣ When you build strength
You give your body the power and control to run faster.
2️⃣ When you train explosiveness
Plyos, jumps, and quick movements help your legs fire faster.
3️⃣ When you sharpen your mechanics
Fast feet, strong posture, and smooth form make every stride more efficient.
That’s the difference.
Build the engine.
Train the power.
Run faster.

Many runners focus on logging miles to build endurance but overlook critical elements that truly increase speed. Through my running experience, I realized that developing strength is essential to gain better control and power during each stride. Incorporating strength training exercises, such as squats and lunges, enhances muscle resilience and makes it easier to maintain a faster pace. Explosiveness is often neglected but plays a huge role in improving your speed. Plyometric drills like box jumps, bounding, and quick feet drills help your muscles react more swiftly and generate greater force during push-off. I found adding these quick bursts to my workout improved my acceleration and overall running efficiency. Sharpening running mechanics is equally important. Focusing on fast feet, upright posture, and smooth arm swings reduces wasted energy and increases stride effectiveness. Practicing drills that emphasize proper form, such as high knees and butt kicks, helped me run more efficiently and with less fatigue. From my experience, speed training needs a three-pronged approach: build the engine with endurance miles, train the power with strength and plyometrics, and sharpen mechanics for efficient movement. Combining these elements consistently can make a noticeable difference in your running speed. If you want to get faster, don’t just run more—train smart by building strength, explosiveness, and perfecting your technique.
