how to keep your dorm tidy! college edition
your space is tiny, and unless you have special circumstances you often have a roommate or multiple roommates, which makes it harder to stay tidy. here are some tips to stay organized!
1) everything has a place. keep it there.
this is important and i’m pretty sure my grandma taught this to me really early in age. make sure all your things have homes, your blankets, dishes, school supplies. this makes it really easy to tidy up quickly.
2) get basic cleaning supplies.
sometimes cleaning supplies can be the last thing you think of buying, but trust me they’re essential. here’s a few things that are good to have: vacuum, swifter, pink stuff(brand),windex, sponges (scrub daddy is my favorite) the list could go on but we’ll stop there.
3) prioritize sunday resets.
this can really help optimize your productivity and generally just make you feel better and prepared for the week again. I usually do a workout class followed by a deep clean of my room, laundry and bedding is done, and work on any last minute assignments. it truly does wonders for my mental and physical health.
4) tidy up before bed.
lastly this one just helps to keep on top of being tidy. every night before bed make sure everything is put away. counters are wiped off, bathroom is cleaned. think of this as a “closing shift” it helps!

Living in a college dorm comes with its challenges, especially when it comes to managing a small space shared with roommates. To create a more organized environment, start by designating specific homes for all your belongings. Incorporate storage solutions such as under-bed storage boxes or multi-functional furniture for optimized space use. Cleaning supplies are vital. Stock up on necessary cleaning tools like a vacuum, disinfecting wipes, and reusable microfiber cloths. Establish a weekly cleaning schedule, perhaps on Sundays when you can reset your space after a busy week of classes. This routine doesn’t just declutter your physical space but also provides a mental break, helping you prepare for the upcoming week. Before heading to bed, dedicate a few minutes to straighten up your room. Tidying your shared spaces, such as the kitchen or bathroom, can improve your relationship with your roommates. Establishing a shared cleaning schedule can also promote cooperation and encourage everyone to maintain cleanliness. In addition, consider exploring resources like dorm life hacks on social media platforms. These tips often go viral and can give you new ideas for keeping your space neat while adding a touch of personal style. Don't hesitate to seek advice from fellow students or browse popular cleaning motivation hashtags for additional inspiration and accountability.
