Canva’s timers are soooo easy!

2025/9/18 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, so I've been using Canva for ages, but I recently stumbled upon their timer feature, and honestly, it's a game-changer, especially if you're like me and often give presentations or need to manage time during activities! I used to think adding a timer to slides would be super complicated, maybe involving external tools or tricky embeds. But nope, Canva genuinely has the easiest timers ever. Let me walk you through how to get these on your slides – you won't believe how simple it is! First, open your Canva design, whether it's a presentation, a worksheet, or even an infographic where you want a visual countdown. Then, head over to the left-hand menu. You'll want to click on 'Elements'. In the search bar within 'Elements', just type 'timer' or 'countdown'. This is where the magic happens! Canva will show you various timer options. The simplest ones are the pre-set timers. You literally just click a number – say, '5 minutes' or '10 minutes' – and it instantly adds a functional, animated timer to your slide. You can then drag it, resize it, and place it wherever you want. It's so user-friendly; I don't think you're fully prepared for how easy of a task this is! Just push whatever number you want, and your timer shows up, ready to go. Now, you might be wondering, 'Why does Canva have a timer?' Well, from my experience, it's incredibly useful for a bunch of scenarios. For teachers, it’s perfect for classroom activities, giving students a clear visual cue for how much time they have left. For business presentations, it can help you stay on track, encourage audience participation within a time limit, or even make a quick break feel more structured. I also use it when I'm running workshops online to keep everyone aligned. It’s brilliant for focused work sessions too – pop a timer on a blank slide, and boom, instant productivity hack! Beyond the basic click-and-add timers, you can often find animated countdown graphics that you can customize a bit more, though the direct numerical timers are my go-to for sheer speed and simplicity. The key is that it seamlessly integrates into your existing Canva design. No need to switch apps or screens during a presentation, which saves so much hassle. So, if you've been looking for a way to put a timer in your Canva PPT or add a timer to your Canva slide, trust me, this is the way. It’s quick, it’s intuitive, and it adds a professional, organized touch to anything you're working on. Give it a try next time you're in Canva – you'll wonder how you ever managed without it!
