🚨 HEY CALGARY, THESE STUDENTS NEED OUR SUPPORT 🚨

This Wednesday (May 7), something really special is happening at the Plaza Theatre in Kensington… and it's all being led by a group of incredible high school girls who need our help.

➡️ The Neuroconnections Project is a local non-profit founded by students at STEM Innovation Academy. Their mission is to support kids with mild neurodevelopmental disorders across Calgary. They’re already helping over 200 students across 6 CBE schools! 🙌🏽

To raise funds, the students planned a Movie Night Fundraiser, screening Matilda, but they’ve hit a tough spot. They paid a $1400 deposit out of pocket to rent the theatre… and so far only 24 out of 140 tickets have sold.

They’re partnered with the incredible team at @mamasformamas.yyc, a charity that supports families facing poverty here in Calgary.

🎟️ Here’s how to help:

... Read moreI had the chance to attend a similar community fundraiser recently, and it was truly inspiring to see young students taking charge to support an important cause. The Neuroconnections Project is making a real difference for over 200 kids with mild neurodevelopmental disorders, which is something close to my heart. Watching Matilda on the big screen in a cozy theatre setting is also a wonderful way to spend an evening with family and friends. If you’re considering supporting this event, buying your ticket early helps relieve the financial burden on these hardworking students who paid the deposit themselves. Plus, you get to enjoy a classic movie that celebrates creativity and resilience—values these students embody. Aside from tickets, donating in-kind items for the charity partnership with @mamasformamas.yyc is another impactful way to contribute. From personal experience, local grassroots initiatives like this show the true spirit of Calgary and bring us together as a community.
