Ive known about this but its never hit so hard until now I want to do things but I just cant find it in me to do it.. am I just tired, what is this
As a full-time artist, I've often found that the mental demands of creativity are uniquely challenging compared to physical jobs. Unlike activities that rely on physical endurance where you can go to the gym to recharge your body, creative work requires nurturing the mental space where inspiration lives. One major struggle I've experienced—and many artists relate to—is burnout that feels deeper than simple tiredness. What helps me most is intentionally separating my creative practice from pressure to monetize or produce content. It's essential to engage in artistic activities with no expectations attached—akin to a 'mental gym'—to preserve the freshness of ideas. This might mean doodling for fun, experimenting with new mediums, or simply appreciating art without the looming goal of sales or social media engagement. Additionally, I recognize when stress or external commitments drain my creative energy. Instead of forcing productivity, I allow myself to rest and engage in activities that replenish my mind—like nature walks, mindfulness, or reading. These moments away from art-related concerns recharge my mental resilience. Another tip is to build a supportive network of fellow artists to share experiences and coping strategies. Knowing that others face similar challenges makes the process less isolating and provides new perspectives on maintaining creativity. Lastly, setting boundaries between work and personal time helps reduce the feeling of art becoming just another job. Making space for creativity that is joyful and free from expectations can transform burnout into renewed passion.
