Nursing Career Advice I’d Tell My 18yo Self👩🏼⚕️💬
If I could sit down with my 18-year-old self—the one working per diem as a PCT, unsure but excited about the future—I’d say this:
✨ “Don’t rush the process. Every patient, every shift, every hard day is shaping you into the nurse you’re meant to be.”
Back then, I wanted everything to happen fast: the degree, the job, the confidence. But what I’ve learned is that growth in this career doesn’t happen overnight. It happens when you show up, stay curious, and refuse to give up—even when it’s uncomfortable.
Say yes to learning, stay humble, advocate for yourself, and never let anyone make you feel too young to belong in the room.
