Sorry! It’s perfect!
Copycat Texas Toast… but from SCRATCH 🤍🍞
There is something deeply healing about thick, buttery bread with crispy edges and a soft, steamy center. This is my from-scratch Texas toast, and once you make it like this, you’ll never go back!
Golden. Garlicky. Buttery! NEED I SAY MORE?! This is the toast you make “just to go with dinner”… and then end up eating half the tray standing at the counter 😌
I wanted the kind you get at a steakhouse or with comfort food classics — but better. Real butter. Fresh garlic. Thick-cut bread. No shortcuts, no mystery ingredients, just pure cozy goodness.
Save this. Make it. Thank me later 🤍
Ingredients:
* ¾ cup warm whole milk (about 110°F)
* 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
* ¼ cup granulated sugar
* 1 large egg, room temp
* 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled
* 1 tsp salt
* 3–3½ cups all-purpose flour
✨ Instructions:
1. Activate the yeast In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Mix the dough Add egg, melted butter, and salt. Stir to combine. Gradually add flour until a soft, slightly tacky dough forms.
3. Knead Knead by hand or mixer for 8–10 minutes until smooth, elastic, and pillowy.
4. First rise Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1½ hours, until doubled.
5. Shape Punch down, shape into a 6-8 mini loaves, and place in a greased loaf pan.
6. Second rise Cover and rise another 30–45 minutes, until domed just above the pan. Brush with egg and sprinkle sesame seeds
7. Bake Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes, until golden on top.
8. Butter the top Brush with melted butter immediately after baking (this matters).
9. Cool completely before slicing This keeps the crumb soft and fluffy — Cane’s-style.
🔥 To Turn It Into REAL Cane’s Toast
* Slice ¾–1 inch thick
* Butter BOTH sides
* Griddle until golden and crisp outside, soft inside
* Serve with famous sauce!!!
Making Texas toast from scratch is not only rewarding but also offers endless opportunities to customize the flavor to your liking. One tip I've found truly elevates this recipe is using high-quality unsalted butter and fresh garlic rather than powdered garlic or margarine. The difference in taste is remarkable, giving the bread a rich, buttery aroma that pairs beautifully with a crispy crust. When preparing the dough, be patient with the rising times. Allowing it to double correctly in both rises ensures a soft, fluffy crumb that isn't dense or heavy. You can actually freeze extra dough portions after the first rise—just wrap them well and freeze—which makes it convenient to have fresh Texas toast ready anytime. To replicate the authentic Raising Cane's experience, slicing the bread thick (about ¾–1 inch) and generously buttering both sides before griddling ensures a perfect balance of crispiness and softness. Serving it with a tangy dipping sauce, like Cane's famous sauce or even a garlic aioli, can turn simple toast into an irresistible accompaniment to meals. For those experimenting, adding herbs like finely chopped parsley or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top before baking can create savory variations that are crowd-pleasers. This homemade Texas toast recipe is incredibly versatile and perfect for family dinners, game days, or cozy nights in. In my experience, the joy of baking this bread and sharing it fresh out of the oven makes it worth every minute. Whether you pair it with fried chicken, soups, or just enjoy it on its own, this recipe delivers that classic steakhouse-quality Texas toast that feels like a warm hug with every bite.

ouch ❤️ I love it
