Hiking trail Colorado Springs

Take a walk with us on the Seven Bridges trail in Colorado Springs! This trail has a beautiful creek view, and you might have already guessed seven bridges for you to traverse.

This is a moderately difficult trail. The trail is 3.5 miles out & back. If you are planning on doing the hike during winter, you will want to wear spikes. It can be very icy on the bridges. You will see a photo of this at the end of the slides. It is equally as beautiful during that time with all the ice formations on the creek. The trail is rather high traffic, so you will likely pass others. You can bring your dog, but it must be on leash.

Get out there and enjoy nature!

... Read moreAfter my recent adventure on the Seven Bridges Trail, I just had to share more insights for anyone planning to experience this Colorado Springs gem! While the main article covers the basics, I wanted to dive deeper into what makes this hike so special and how to make the most of your visit, especially when looking for those incredible Colorado Springs scenic overlooks. First off, getting to the Seven Bridges Trail is pretty straightforward, but parking can be a bit tricky due to its popularity. I usually aim to arrive early, especially on weekends, to snag a spot at the main North Cheyenne Cañon Park entrance. From there, it's a short walk to the trailhead, where you truly begin to 'take a walk' into nature's embrace. The trail itself is a visual treat throughout the year. While the article mentions the stunning winter scenery with a partially frozen creek and snow-covered ground, don't miss it during other seasons! I've been in autumn when the leaves turn brilliant yellows around the wooden bridges, making for picturesque views. Spring and summer bring lush greenery, vibrant wildflowers, and a full, flowing rocky creek, often creating small waterfalls along the path – perfect for capturing those 'creek & mountain views' photos. You'll often see other hikers enjoying the fresh air and the sounds of nature. Regarding the hike's moderate difficulty, it’s a great balance for many skill levels. The 3.5 miles out and back felt just right, offering enough challenge without being overly strenuous. Each of the seven wooden bridges offers a unique perspective of the creek below. I always recommend wearing sturdy hiking shoes, even if it's not winter, as some sections can be rocky or muddy. And never forget water and snacks! Even for a moderate hike, staying hydrated is key. Layers are also a good idea, as mountain weather can change quickly. For those seeking more beyond the trail, Colorado Springs is brimming with scenic spots. After finishing the Seven Bridges hike, consider driving up to Helen Hunt Falls for another beautiful waterfall view, or venture further into North Cheyenne Cañon Park for more trails and overlooks. Garden of the Gods is also a short drive away and offers iconic red rock formations and numerous easy walking paths with breathtaking vistas – truly a different kind of 'scenic overlook' experience. The Seven Bridges Trail is more than just a hike; it's an immersive experience into the natural beauty of Colorado. Whether you're crossing the numbered bridges (yes, I counted them, bridge #4 is particularly charming!), marveling at the ice formations, or simply enjoying the peaceful forest, it’s a must-do for any nature lover in the area.
