Keep the hate coming.

Living as a queer individual in a city like Chicago, I have encountered various forms of hate and misunderstanding, especially within the context of marriage. It's not only about exterior negativity but sometimes internal struggles, too. Embracing my identity as a wife and part of the LGBT community has been both empowering and daunting. Hate often comes disguised as ignorance or fear, which makes responses complex. I’ve found that sharing stories within supportive communities, both online and offline, helps build resilience. For me, connecting with other queer couples has provided solidarity and strategies to cope with discrimination. Marriage, regardless of orientation, requires patience and communication. For queer couples, these challenges can be compounded by societal biases, making the journey unique.
