During my childhood, I was passionate about dance, especially acro, a type of dance that combines gymnastics and flips, somewhat like parkour for children. I remember my mom was supportive even though we didn’t have a lot of money, and she found free dance sessions for me to join in my age group. Acro classes taught us kids how to properly perform cartwheels and other flips, emphasizing balance and technique. It was a unique experience because usually instructors would help by holding up the midsections of kids to get the form right. When it was my turn to do a cartwheel, I was super eager but also nervous. Unexpectedly, as I was in the middle of my move, I accidentally let out a fart right in front of my teacher’s face. The entire class burst out laughing, and I felt so frozen and humiliated that I stopped going to acro classes afterward.
