The Books I was Reading 10 Years ago!

What were you reading 10 years ago?

1- I hated Allegiance and I’ll just leave that there😂

2- I used to love the Beautiful Creatures Movie

3- I’ll never forget after reading Catching Fire I ran to tell my dad I needed book 3 and then he took me to Half Price Bookstore🥹❤️

4- I got Matched from my school Media Center and ate it up…I couldn’t put the book down.

5- Legend was very enjoyable at the time, I wonder if I reread it today if I’d still like it🤔

6- MUCH LOVE💗

... Read moreIt’s so much fun looking back at the books that shaped our younger years! When I mentioned Legend by Marie Lu, it brought back so many memories. I remember being completely captivated by Day and June's story – the thrilling chase, the incredible world-building, and the moral dilemmas they faced. Marie Lu really crafted a world that felt both futuristic and gritty, making me question what true justice looked like in a society built on stark contrasts. Thinking about Legend also makes me recall its fantastic sequels, Prodigy and *Champion*. If you loved the first book, diving deeper into their journey through those was an absolute must! The way the narrative expanded and the characters developed was just phenomenal. It’s a series that truly sticks with you. If you're like me and still crave those intense, character-driven dystopian stories, there are so many other incredible series out there that Legend fans would absolutely enjoy. After all, when I was 10-13 years ago, I was definitely a YA/dystopian lover, and I remember happily skipping school lunch to get another book! These types of books really transported me. One of the first that comes to mind is Divergent by Veronica Roth. The faction system, Tris's incredible journey of self-discovery, and the high-stakes action provide a similar rush. The idea of choosing who you are and fighting for it resonates strongly with the themes in *Legend*. It's another international bestseller for a reason! And speaking of choices, how could I forget Matched by Ally Condie? While it has a slightly different vibe, focusing more on a controlled society's pairing system, the protagonist's quest for individuality and forbidden love offers a compelling parallel for lovers of *Legend*'s complex world-building. I couldn’t put it down! Of course, The Hunger Games series, especially *Catching Fire*, is another essential read if you loved the dystopian setting and the fight for survival. Katniss's resilience and the critique of power structures are timeless. I remember running to get the next book in that series! I also remember getting lost in other stories that explored similar themes of rebellion and finding strength in unexpected places. These stories aren't just about survival; they're about love, loyalty, and challenging the status quo. It’s amazing how one choice can transform you and broaden your perspective! Whether you're revisiting old favorites or discovering new ones, the YA dystopian genre truly has something for everyone who loves a good adventure with a meaningful message. What are some of your top picks from the YA dystopian genre? I'd love to hear what other stories got you hooked!
