How I built my 6-figure freelance business 💻💸

Here are 6 things I did to build my 6-figure freelance business and steps YOU can take to do the same, so you can finally build the freelance business you’ve been dreaming of and reach financial freedom! 💸🤩

✨ I chose services I felt confident in & enjoyed doing

Focusing on skills you’re passionate about ensures you deliver quality work while staying motivated. Your confidence and love for your craft truly shine through to potential clients, so this is key!

✨ Focused on one main way to market myself and find clients

Instead of trying to master every platform, I found one marketing channel that worked for me. This allowed me to streamline my application efforts and attract my ideal clients. (I use Upwork btw!)

✨ Created a portfolio & resume

Showcasing your skills and results is key to building trust with clients. A strong portfolio and resume let clients see what you bring to the table and how you can solve their problems! Bad portfolio = no clients

✨ Did daily lead generation and stayed consistent

If you want to be a successful freelancer, you have to be persistent! I apply to new projects/clients each week, so I can ensure a steady flow of opportunities and build momentum over time. Stay consistent and don't give up!

✨ Worked on my mindset & reframed my limiting beliefs

Mindset is everything!! Trust me! Shifting my mindset helped me break free from doubts and self-imposed limits, which made me MUCH more successful!

✨ Priced myself based on the value I provided and my financial goals & needs

Knowing your worth is crucial to hitting 6 figures! After tons of trial and error, studying other freelancers' rates, and sadly feeling underpaid, I now charge rates that reflect the results I deliver and align with my financial goals.

👉 If you want to become a freelancer in 2025, follow me for more tips that will help you reach your freelance goals!

... Read moreHey amazing freelancers! It’s fantastic you’re looking to not just build, but truly manage and grow your freelance business to new heights. Once you’ve laid the foundational bricks, like choosing your services and mastering lead generation, the real magic happens in how you sustain and scale your success. Think of it as moving from ‘Part 1: Building’ to ‘Part 2: Managing & Growing’ your thriving venture, just like the '6 THINGS I DID TO BUILD a 6-figure freelance business PART 1' graphic suggests! After hitting my own financial milestones, I quickly learned that consistent growth requires more than just getting clients; it demands smart management. Here are some personal strategies I've embraced to keep the momentum going: 1. Master Client Relationship Management (CRM): It’s not just about getting clients, it’s about keeping them happy and turning them into raving fans. I learned the hard way that clear communication is paramount. I use simple tools (even a digital clipboard or project management software) to keep track of all client interactions, deadlines, and feedback. Setting clear expectations from the start, providing regular updates, and going the extra mile where possible has led to incredible client retention and, more importantly, a steady stream of referrals. Happy clients become your best marketing asset, often better than any megaphone! 2. Diversify Your Income Streams and Marketing Efforts: While focusing on one marketing channel initially is great for building, for true growth and stability, diversification is key. Don't put all your eggs in one basket, whether it's one platform or one client. I started exploring other avenues for lead generation beyond my initial go-to. This might mean creating your own digital products, offering consulting, or even building a small team to take on larger projects. Think about how you can leverage your existing skills and offerings in new ways. 3. Strategic Financial Management & Reinvestment: Achieving a six-figure income is fantastic, but managing that income is crucial for sustainable growth. Beyond just pricing yourself correctly, it's about what you do with the rolled money. I set up separate accounts for taxes, savings, and business reinvestment. Regularly budgeting and tracking my expenses helps me understand where my money is going and where I can strategically reinvest. This might be in professional development, new software that makes my life easier (hello, laptop upgrades!), or even outsourcing tasks that aren't my zone of genius. 4. Prioritize Continuous Learning & Skill Upgrades: The freelance landscape is constantly evolving. To stay competitive and continue to grow, you absolutely must commit to lifelong learning. I dedicate specific time each week (like blocking it out on my calendar) to learn new skills, read industry reports, or take online courses. Keeping your brain sharp and your services cutting-edge ensures you remain valuable to clients and can command higher rates. This also opens doors to new service offerings and market opportunities. 5. Optimize Your Workflow & Embrace Automation: As your business grows, your time becomes even more precious. Look for ways to streamline repetitive tasks. This could involve using scheduling tools, automating social media posts, or creating templates for common communications. The goal is to free up your mental energy and time so you can focus on high-value tasks – strategizing for growth, client work, or even just taking a well-deserved break! 6. Nurture Your Network & Seek Mentorship: You don't have to grow alone. Actively engaging with other freelancers, joining communities, and seeking out mentors has been invaluable for me. Learning from others' experiences, getting advice, and even collaborating on projects can significantly accelerate your growth trajectory. Remember, building a successful freelance business is a marathon, not a sprint. With these strategies for managing and growing, you're not just aiming for financial freedom, but also for a fulfilling and sustainable freelance career!
