I was spending money every single month and had absolutely nothing to show for it.

And I want to be clear that I was not being careless or inconsistent. I was showing up for this every single day and getting nothing back that reflected that effort.

For a long time I thought I was just someone collagen did not work for. That maybe the whole category was overhyped and I had simply fallen for good marketing.

Neither of those things was true.

The actual problem was simpler and more frustrating than that. What I was taking was not formulated in a way my body could actually absorb and use. Standard collagen molecules are too large for efficient absorption. Your body breaks them down into general amino acids and distributes them wherever it decides protein is most needed. Your skin and your hair and your joints do not get priority.

I was not using a bad product. I was using the wrong kind of product for what my body actually needed.

The science behind why regular collagen does not do what most of us think it does completely changed my perspective. And once I understood it I could not justify buying the same thing one more month.

What I switched to works at the cellular level in a way standard collagen simply cannot.

Comment LONGEVITY and I'll send you all the details on what I switched to and why 🌿

... Read moreIn my journey with collagen supplements, I learned that not all collagen products are created equal. Many of us assume that simply taking collagen ensures better skin, stronger hair, and healthy joints, but that’s often not the case. The key factor lies in the collagen’s molecular structure and how well our bodies can absorb it. Standard collagen molecules are too large to be absorbed efficiently. Our digestive system breaks them down into amino acids, which then get distributed to various parts of the body based on immediate protein needs. Unfortunately, this means that collagen’s intended benefits for skin, hair, and joints may not be prioritized. This is why despite consistent daily use, many people, including myself, see little to no improvement. What changed the game for me was switching to collagen supplements formulated with bioactive peptides or hydrolyzed collagen. These forms have smaller, pre-digested collagen peptides that the body can readily absorb and utilize where it matters most. Incorporating such products as part of my wellness routine has led to noticeable improvements in skin elasticity, joint comfort, and hair strength—benefits I hadn’t achieved with standard collagen. Additionally, pairing collagen supplementation with vitamin C and maintaining a balanced diet helps enhance collagen synthesis in the body. It’s also crucial to avoid products with unnecessary fillers or additives that could interfere with absorption. From my experience, understanding the science behind collagen and choosing the right formulation is essential for real, lasting results. If you’re tired of wasting money on ineffective collagen, consider looking for products that target absorption at the cellular level—your skin and joints will thank you for it.
