it’s ok to not have multiple pets, or ANY pets if you aren’t willing to do ANYTHING with them!!!! WHY is this normalized!
Many people fail to realize that owning a pet, particularly dogs like Dobermans or European Dobermans, is a significant responsibility that requires time, energy, and devotion. It's not enough to simply have pets around; they need daily interaction, mental stimulation, exercise, and affection to thrive. The issue of keeping multiple dogs confined in kennels for long periods and blaming it on personal struggles like depression is a concerning trend. This behavior not only negatively impacts the dogs' physical and mental health but also misrepresents what true ethical ownership means. Watching someone repeatedly get new dogs only to leave them isolated and inactive is frustrating. Such actions can perpetuate a cycle of neglect despite good intentions. Ethical dog ownership demands that owners understand their dogs' needs and are willing to invest the necessary time and effort to meet them. This is especially true for high-energy breeds like Dobermans that require consistent exercise and engagement. In addition, social media sometimes normalizes the idea of having many pets without considering the quality of care provided. Posting pictures or updates does not equal meeting the practical needs of these animals. Instead, it’s important to focus on providing a nurturing environment where a dog’s well-being takes priority over appearances. For anyone considering bringing a dog into their home, it's perfectly acceptable to choose not to have any pets rather than acquiring animals without full readiness to care for them. Responsible pet ownership means prioritizing the animal's needs by offering an environment filled with love, attention, and proper care rather than just having pets for company or social image. Ultimately, recognizing the real commitment required fosters healthier, happier pets and more satisfying relationships between dogs and their owners. This mindset supports the well-being of Dobermans and other breeds alike and helps change harmful norms about pet ownership.
