How to be a high achiever

Set a 90 day plan and stick to it. If you miss one day, don’t miss two. There is a thing called the 20 hour rule and it suggests that it takes 20 hours to be competent in a new skill. If you spend 15 min a day for 90 days that is 22.5 hours. When you live by a compass and not a clock and do 15 min a day of something that helps you go where you want to go, you will be much further than your peers.

... Read moreI used to feel overwhelmed by big goals, constantly asking myself, 'What do I truly want to improve in myself?' It felt like there was so much to do, and I just kept putting it off. But then I discovered the incredible power of the 90-day plan, and it completely changed my perspective on how to be a high achiever. It’s not just anecdotal; research, even from places like Harvard Business School, emphasizes that a structured 90-day plan can lead to significantly better and faster results. For me, it became about intentional, consistent effort rather than sporadic bursts of motivation. Instead of trying to overhaul everything at once, I learned to focus on one or two key areas for improvement. The secret, I found, is truly understanding your 'life's compass.' Before diving into any plan, I take time to reflect: 'What decisions do I want to make to achieve what I want to do?' This clarity helps me pinpoint specific skills or habits I want to cultivate. For example, if I wanted to learn a new digital skill, instead of thinking about the massive time commitment, I'd break it down. Just 15 minutes a day, every day, for 90 days. It doesn't sound like much, but as the original article points out, that adds up to over 22 hours! That's often enough to become competent in something new, proving that working smarter isn't always about brute force. This 'step by step' approach is so crucial. My journey hasn't been a straight line to my desired destination. There have been seasons of intense focus and times when I've had to adjust. What really helped me was recognizing that even small, consistent actions build momentum. If I missed a day, I made sure not to miss two. It’s about building an unbreakable chain of effort. To truly work smarter, think sharper, and live better, I also learned to protect those 15 minutes. It became non-negotiable. Whether it was learning a new language, practicing a creative skill, or even dedicating time to personal development like journaling, that small, consistent slot made all the difference. It's amazing how much progress you can make when you're disciplined about putting in the time, even if it's just a little bit. This mindset shift has not only helped me achieve my goals but also reduced stress, as I feel a constant sense of forward movement. It's about making progress, not perfection, and trusting that those small, consistent steps will eventually lead you to where you want to be.
