Tiny Tooth Company (baby’s first dentist appt)
Nova had her very first baby dentist appointment, and we couldn’t be happier! We visited Tiny Tooth Company in Costa Mesa and absolutely loved everything about it. Nova did so well, and the whole experience was amazing! 🦷✨
Dr. Andrew and Dr. Marcus opened this adorable dentistry almost a year ago, and they’ll be celebrating their 1-year anniversary this Sunday! Fun fact: Dr. Andrew also teaches spin at Grit, and I’ve taken his class multiple times. When I found out he opened a practice with his partner, I couldn’t wait to bring Nova in!
We’re already looking forward to her next visit! 💕 #TinyToothCompany #BabyDentist #FirstDentalVisit #CostaMesa #fyp
Seeing Nova so excited for her checkup at Tiny Tooth Company really highlighted how crucial a positive first impression at the dentist is! For other parents getting ready for their little one's first visit, I wanted to share some tips that truly helped us, inspired by our amazing experience. First, creating a "going to the dentist social story" at home can make a huge difference. We read children's books about dental visits, played a little "dentist" game with a doll, and talked about how cool it is to have shiny, strong teeth. Using positive language like "tooth explorer" instead of "drill" or "counting teeth" instead of "checking for problems" can help ease any anxieties. The goal is to make it an adventure, not a chore. Seeing Nova smile during her visit, just like in the pictures where she's "visiting the dentist for the first time," made all that preparation worth it. It’s about building anticipation and curiosity rather than fear, which truly sets the stage for a calm and cooperative child. When it comes to choosing the best pediatric dentist, I learned a lot from our search. Beyond just looking at general reviews, consider the overall vibe and how specifically they cater to children. For instance, while some might search for "Kidz Dental Central reviews," it's crucial to look for specifics: Does the office decor put kids at ease? Are the staff, from reception to hygienists, trained in child psychology? For us, seeing "How cute is this place?" in Nova's experience was a huge factor. You want a team that understands how to interact with young children, making them feel comfortable and safe. Don't hesitate to ask about their approach to first visits, how they handle anxious children, and what their philosophy is on patient education. A good pediatric dentist won't just clean teeth; they'll educate you and your child on proper oral hygiene and empower them to take care of their own smiles. After a successful first visit, the next vital step is maintaining that good oral health to proactively prevent issues like a "kid getting cavity filled." It's not just about brushing twice a day – though that's super important! Think about diet, limiting sugary snacks and drinks, and making sure fluoride is part of their routine, whether through toothpaste or professional applications. Regular check-ups, even when everything seems fine, are absolutely key. These routine visits allow the dentist to catch any potential issues early, often before they become painful or require extensive treatment. Early detection of any potential issues means less invasive and less stressful treatments down the line. It's reassuring to know that if issues do arise, you have a trusted dental team ready to provide gentle care. The moment Nova got to "pick a toy!" after her checkup was the perfect celebration of her bravery and a great way to end a positive appointment, making her "can't wait for her next appointment!" We left feeling so confident in the comprehensive care she received, knowing we're setting her up for a lifetime of healthy, happy smiles. Remember, consistency and positive reinforcement are your best tools for cultivating good oral habits.
