In reality, frequent UV exposure, whether from natural sunlight or tanning beds, increases the risk of premature skin aging, pigmentation issues, and skin cancers, including melanoma. People who still want a sun-kissed glow without the risks associated with UV exposure may find self-tanners or spray tans to be a much safer alternative. These products contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which interacts with the skin's surface to produce a natural-looking tan without UV damage. Unlike base tans, self-tanning products do not build any natural protection against the sun, so it’s important to still use sunscreen during outdoor activities.
