Medical grade skincare isn’t a thing.
No, it doesn’t penetrate deeper, have higher concentrations, guarantee better results, require a skin professional/medical director to oversee, require a prescription, or have clinical data behind it.
Most brands select actives to include in their formula off of existing data on those singular ingredients. The “clinical studies” are not on their finalized formula in majority of cases because it’s extremely expensive to put together a double-blinded randomized controlled placebo clinical trial for months, let alone a year with a large scale sample size (we’re talking millions)… AND THAT’S FINE!
There’s nothing wrong with these products either. Some of the brands considered “medical grade” have products that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
Instead of perpetuating elitism and misinformation in the beauty industry, I’d love to see people provide evidence-based information online and focus their marketing on the before & afters these products achieved on your real patients.
