Why can’t you get pregnant on accutane?

Accutane (isotretinoin) is a vitamin-A derivative and one of the best medications to treat acne, but a NO if you are trying to conceive or do become pregnant — that includes topical vitamin-A derivatives too!

Isotretinoin causes severe birth defects. You are given BC and have a pregnancy test incorporated in your bloodwork that you do monthly to ensure you’re not pregnant.
