Instead of striving for perfection, which often leads to disappointment, I focus on what truly nourishes my body and soul. My weekend food diary isn't about rigid rules or calorie counting; it's about enjoying life's culinary pleasures while maintaining a healthy balance. My mornings often kick off with something comforting and familiar. Sometimes it’s a stack of fluffy pancakes, a classic treat that always brings a smile to my face. I love pairing them with fresh fruit, like those vibrant oranges I picked up from the market, adding a burst of vitamin C and natural sweetness. Other days, if I’m feeling a little more indulgent, a creamy dessert or a scoop of ice cream with some crumble might find its way onto my plate, because life's too short not to enjoy dessert for breakfast once in a while! Lunch on the weekend is usually about ease and satisfaction. A favorite combo is a warm, creamy soup alongside a perfectly grilled cheese sandwich – ultimate comfort food! If I'm craving something lighter or want to pack in more greens, a crisp salad often makes an appearance. I find that having a mix of hearty and fresh options helps keep things interesting and ensures I’m getting a good range of nutrients. And speaking of fresh, I love incorporating seasonal produce like tart blood oranges when they’re available, either as a snack or a refreshing addition to a meal. Dinners are often when I get a bit more creative, or sometimes, just stick to what’s tried and true. Pasta with grilled chicken is a frequent guest at my table; it’s versatile, easy to prepare, and always satisfying. I can switch up the sauce or vegetables to keep it fresh. Accompanying drinks might range from sparkling water to something a little more festive, depending on the mood. And throughout the day, I make sure to have plenty of snacks on hand. Juicy red cherries are a personal favorite for a sweet bite, and sometimes, for a surprising crunch, I even reach for a couple of crisp pickle spears – don't knock it 'til you try it! What I’ve learned about eating realistically is that it’s deeply personal. It’s about listening to your body, honoring your cravings, and finding joy in food without guilt. It's not about being 'good' or 'bad'; it's about consistency and overall well-being. By sharing my actual weekend eats, I hope to inspire others to be more honest and gentle with themselves on their own food journeys. Forget the pressure of Instagram-perfect meals; embrace the delicious, real-life food that truly fuels you.
