Part 1 | GGs Trapper✨
Hey fellow Dead by Daylight enthusiasts! If you've ever felt the thrill of catching a survivor in a perfectly placed bear trap, you know the Trapper can be incredibly rewarding. He might seem simple, but mastering him takes strategy and the right perk build. I've spent countless hours honing my Trapper game, and I'm excited to share my go-to setup and tips to help you become a true master of the hunt. First off, let's talk about perks. For me, a strong Trapper build focuses on early game pressure, chase potential, and gen regression. Here are some of my personal favorites that consistently deliver results: Corrupt Intervention: This perk is a game-changer for Trapper. It blocks the three furthest generators at the start of the trial, giving you crucial time to gather and place your initial traps without survivors immediately popping gens. This early map pressure is vital for setting up your domain. Save the Best for Last: This perk is fantastic for snowballing. Landing basic attacks on survivors other than your Obsession reduces the cooldown of your basic attack. This means you can down survivors much faster, making you a terror in chase and allowing you to quickly spread pressure. Brutal Strength: Pallets are Trapper's bane. Brutal Strength helps you break pallets and breakable walls faster, keeping chases shorter and preventing survivors from running you for too long. It’s simple but incredibly effective. Pop Goes the Weasel / Pain Resonance: For gen control, these are my top picks. Pop allows you to kick a generator after a hook and instantly remove a percentage of its progress. Pain Resonance automatically regresses the furthest gen when you hook a survivor on a scourge hook. Both help immensely in slowing down the game. Now, let's get into strategy, especially when survivors try to loop a Trapper. This is where many new Trapper players struggle, but with some practice, you can turn their looping against them. Instead of blindly chasing, think ahead. If a survivor is trying to loop you around a strong tile (like a jungle gym or shack), don't commit to the endless chase. Instead: Predict their path: Where are they most likely to go next? Place a trap just ahead of them, or at a window vault they'll inevitably use. Mind Games: Sometimes, faking a chase and quickly doubling back to place a trap in their escape route works wonders. They often expect you to keep chasing and won't look down. Force the trap: If they are constantly looping a pallet, place a trap just on your side of the pallet. When they drop it, you can break it with Brutal Strength, and they'll either run into the trap or be forced to leave the loop, giving you a hit. Key Loop Control: Always prioritize trapping strong loops and popular vault locations. The Killer Shack is a prime example; placing a trap at the window or just inside the doorway can guarantee a down. General Trap Placement Tips: High Traffic Areas: Focus on locations where survivors are likely to run or work on generators, such as main buildings, generators, and common pathing routes between objectives. Exit Gates: As the game progresses, placing traps near exit gates can secure late-game downs. Under Hooks: While you don't want to outright camp, placing a trap strategically near a hooked survivor can catch rescuers off guard. Just make sure you're still patrolling! Strategic Corners: Hidden in tall grass or around blind corners, traps become nearly invisible until it's too late. Trapper is a killer who demands patience and map awareness. It might take a few games to get the hang of predicting survivor movements and finding those perfect trap spots, but trust me, the satisfaction of seeing "BEAR TRAP!" pop up is unmatched. Keep practicing, experiment with add-ons like the Honing Stone for automatic trap resets or the Trapper Bag for more initial traps, and you'll be getting those GGs in no time!
