Being a house manager, especially when juggling the demands of a career and the changes that come with midlife, is no small feat. From my own experience, the key to managing this unique phase is embracing a zero-tolerance era for negativity and self-doubt. One day, I realized that giving myself permission to prioritize my needs without guilt completely transformed my mindset. In midlife, especially as a mom managing both household duties and professional responsibilities, the temptation to keep people-pleasing can be overwhelming. However, this stage is perfect for turning that around. I started setting clear boundaries and communicating openly about my capacity, which surprisingly made my home life smoother and my stress levels lower. Menopause brought its own challenges, particularly with feeling under-rested, but I found that small self-care rituals—like short meditation breaks and light exercise—helped maintain my energy throughout the day. It's important to create routines that work for you and to accept that some days will be tougher than others. What resonates most with me is the idea that "midlife is where the people-pleasing ends and the confidence begins." This mindset shift allows you to approach your role as a house manager and mom with grace and humor, knowing you are doing your best. Declaring a "no-apology season" frees you from the burden of trying to meet everyone's expectations and encourages you to live authentically. So, whether you're a house manager, a working mom, or both, remember to celebrate your superpower energy. The balance might not be perfect every day, but the joy you find in embracing your unique journey is what truly counts.
