From the daughter of a single mom....
Father's Day is complicated for some of us. Even at 46. Even after years of healing. Even when you're married to the best baby daddy.
This one is for the moms who did the work of two parents and the uncles and the father in~love's and the good men who stepped up when they didn't have to.
As I get ready for a trip this week, I'm feeling grateful for both—the angel who raised me and the men who helped carry some of the weight.
If Father's Day brings up mixed emotions for you, you're not alone. ❤️
And drop a ❤️ for the moms who carried and still carries the team.

Father’s Day can evoke a complex blend of emotions for many people, especially those raised by single mothers. Growing up without a traditional father figure often means that one woman took on a monumental role, fulfilling both parental duties and creating a loving home environment against the odds. From personal experience, I’ve learned that gratitude for that effort deepens with time and healing. In many families, the absence of a father doesn’t mean absence of fatherly love. Uncles, family friends, and partners who didn’t have to step in but chose to do so make a profound difference. These men contribute support, guidance, and love, reinforcing the foundation built by single mothers. It’s important to recognize and celebrate all of these contributions: the commitment of the hardworking mom and the kindness of those who help share the responsibility. For those who feel mixed emotions on Father’s Day—whether it’s sadness, gratitude, or even confusion—know that you are not alone. Healing is a personal journey, and acknowledging those feelings is part of it. Sharing those feelings with others who understand can provide comfort and connection. Motherhood in these scenarios often requires incredible strength, resilience, and unwavering love. Shouting out to all the single moms out there still carrying the team: your work does not go unnoticed and you are deeply appreciated. The community that forms around these shared experiences provides a source of empowerment and solidarity. As I prepare for my upcoming trip, my heart is full of gratitude—not only for the mom who raised me but also for the men who graciously took on fatherly roles. Father’s Day can be complicated, but it’s also an opportunity to honor all forms of family and love that shape us. Remember to celebrate every person who contributes to the beautiful, sometimes imperfect, tapestry of family life.

To the moms who played both positions and the good men who helped along the way—we see you. ❤️
