Planning a trip to St Maarten quickly became one of my best travel decisions. The island offers an incredible blend of culture, beautiful beaches, and unique activities that make for an unforgettable vacation. One of the highlights is definitely Maho Beach, renowned for its exhilarating plane-spotting experience where aircraft fly low overhead as they land at the nearby Princess Juliana International Airport. Besides the adrenaline rush at Maho Beach, I found St Maarten to be incredibly welcoming with vibrant local markets, delicious cuisine, and stunning natural landscapes perfect for hiking and snorkeling adventures. The island’s dual Dutch and French heritage lends a charming atmosphere to explore quaint towns, try diverse foods, and enjoy lively nightlife. When visiting, it's great to plan some time on the less crowded beaches too, like Orient Bay, known for its clear waters and water sports. For travelers looking for adventure beyond the beaches, hiking trails such as the Loterie Farm offer lush greenery and zip-lining experiences. Booking accommodations in advance is recommended, especially for trips planned in 2026 or 2027, as the island’s popularity keeps growing. Whether you’re a beach lover, adventure seeker, or culture enthusiast, St Maarten offers a uniquely enriching travel experience that's hard to beat.
