But before you cast a line, here’s what to know: you’ll need a National Park fishing permit (the provincial one won’t work here) and you must follow catch-and-release rules to help protect Banff’s fragile alpine ecosystem.

Only artificial lures or flies are allowed. no bait, no lead tackle, and all fish must be handled gently and released back into the water.
