During my trip to the Canadian Rockies, I had the incredible opportunity to try dog sledding with Mad Dogs & Englishmen, and it was truly one of the highlights of my winter experiences. Starting off by meeting the enthusiastic sled dogs, I was amazed by their energy and warmth despite the cold environment. The guides were very knowledgeable and welcoming, walking us through how the sled works and what to expect on the trail. One of the best parts was having the option to either sit inside the sled to relax and enjoy the breathtaking mountain landscapes or stand on the runners to help steer and control the sled under the guide’s supervision. I personally chose to stand on the runners, which added an extra element of excitement and engagement to the experience. The feeling of gliding so close to nature, pulled by these incredible dogs through snowy paths, was unmatched. This activity is not only adventurous but also deeply immersive, offering a uniquely Canadian way to experience Kananaskis, Banff, Canmore, and Calgary in winter. The peaceful snowy forests and mountain views combine with the thrill of dog sledding for a perfect winter outing.
