Attending Ottawa GreekFest has always been one of my favorite summer traditions. The lively atmosphere combined with the authentic Greek cuisine makes it a perfect outing for friends and family. One thing I especially appreciate is the convenience—free admission means you can casually drop by without worrying about entrance fees, and the shuttle service running every 15 minutes really helps if you can't find one of the limited on-site parking spots near 1315 Princes of Wales Drive. If you’re a food lover, watching a whole lamb roasting slowly while savoring the aroma sets your appetite up for the amazing grilled meats, saganaki flaming right before your eyes, and classic treats like spanakopita, moussaka, and gyros. Don’t forget to try loukoumades—Greek honey balls—and an iced frappé to beat the summer heat. These flavors truly bring Greece to Ottawa! The festival doesn’t just stop at food. After filling up, I love staying for the live music, dancing, and especially the Zorba Show at 8:30 PM, which showcases traditional Greek dancing and is a highlight every year. The Marketplace and Arts Court also offer unique handcrafts and Greek cultural goods, adding to the immersive experience. Whether it rains or shines, Ottawa GreekFest is covered and welcoming. It’s an excellent way to celebrate Greek heritage and community spirit without leaving Ottawa. Planning your visit for a weekend between Aug 13-16 or Aug 20-23 gives enough options to catch the festivities at your own pace. Bring your loved ones and live a day the Greek way—trust me, you’ll come back wanting more!
