If you follow, you might remember this project…

I’ll admit it… I love me some good old antique gold rub & buff. 🤷🏻‍♀️😆I was going to just leave this project as it was, but I kept staring at it and eventually noticed that although the plain matte black was beautiful, it washed out a lot of the detail in the wood carvings. After some thought, I decided to use antique gold rub &buff just on the floral carvings. I guess the craziness of this full moon (lots of stuff happening in the astrological world rn if you weren’t aware!) inspired me to continue creating! I’ve been feeling super creatively inspired recently. Has anyone else? Do you like the gold accents versus the all black I had before? Let me know what you think! #lemon8diarychallenge #summerdiary #lemon8contest #fullmoon #create #antiquevibes #upcycle #handcraftedmagic #DIY

... Read moreAdding gold highlights to antique pieces is a fantastic way to enhance their beauty while maintaining their originality. This technique not only brings out the intricate details in wood carvings but also adds a modern touch to classic designs. To start, carefully select areas that benefit from visual interest, like floral carvings, and apply antique gold rub & buff to those spots. This method can be especially effective when you're feeling creatively inspired, as many find themselves during the full moon phase. The cosmic energy can spur artistic creativity, making it a perfect time to take on new projects. In addition to aesthetic improvements, experimenting with different finishes can make a significant difference. The contrast between the matte black and the gold accents creates a striking visual effect that draws the eye.
