Mackinac Island - Michigan

I have done both the hike around the island and the horse carriage tour around the island, here are my tips!

I have taken both a personal boat to island (thank you father in law) and the ferry. The ferry was only $15 and only took about 15 minutes. I suggest going to the one over the bridge but going over the bridge is an additional $4 each way. Taking a personal boat you would need to rent a boat slip in advance, a huge advantage to that would be the private restrooms and private picnic area.

If you can afford the carriage tour, DO IT! They give you so much information and cool facts about the island, plus you get to see all the tourists hot spots without getting worn down by the hike.

The hike gave us some amazing views we would not have seen if we took the horse carriage and is a great options for anyone who can’t afford the carriage ride. It does take a couple hours, we brought a wagon for my young son to take breaks and lots of water to keep us hydrated.

There is an option to rent bikes but I have not done this one yet, I don’t know how to ride a bike 😬

Ahhhh, one of my favorite spots! The Watercolor Cafe on Mackinac Island. This adorable cafe serves coffee smoothies and food. Located right on the water and famously known for their Lilac Latte and art classes. This cafe is located right on the water behind the Bay View Of Mackinac accommodations.
