Follow Along as I Fall in Love Again with Art…
⭐️ Sketchbook 1, Part 1
I used to want to be an artist when I was younger, and then I realized I didn’t have what it took to be a starving artist. So I gave up that dream and kept it as a hobby… a hobby that I haven’t really picked up since high school.
I’ve been missing it so I bought a couple sketchbooks and made it my goal to fill them. Some sketches I love, some are just a brain dump, and some I absolutely need more practice on!
I was pregnant with my first when I bought the sketchbooks because I realized I wanted my child to see their mom have a hobby. So a lot of my inspo really is my son <3

Art has a unique power to evoke emotions and express one’s self; it serves as both a hobby and a therapeutic outlet. Many find that sketching can bring back fond memories while creating new ones with loved ones. For new artists, starting a sketchbook can be a wonderful way to explore different techniques without the pressure of perfection. Whether it’s portraits, landscapes, or abstract designs, the beauty lies in the journey of growth and self-discovery. As you practice, focus on enjoying the process, experimenting with various media like colored pencils, pastels, or markers to find what resonates with you the most. Additionally, creating a designated space for your art supplies can foster creativity and help manage your artistic projects better. For those struggling with perfectionism, it’s crucial to remember that every artist starts somewhere, and every sketch contributes to your overall improvement. Documenting your progression over time not only showcases your evolution as an artist but can also inspire others just starting. Engaging with communities online, such as art forums and social media platforms, can provide feedback and encourage collaboration. Sharing sketches tagged with relevant hashtags can create a supportive network where you can gain inspiration and connect with fellow art lovers. Ultimately, the goal should be to find joy in creating, whether you draw for yourself, your children, or as a means of self-expression. Embrace the experience of filling those pages—the challenges, the triumphs, and the exploration of the artist within you.
