If you've been wondering about visiting this incredible place, I'm here to share some of my prep and thoughts, especially after seeing so many of you ask questions like "is Biltmore worth it?" or "when is the best time to visit Biltmore Estate?". First off, if you're asking "what is the Biltmore?", let me tell you – it's America's largest private home, a stunning 250-room French Renaissance château in Asheville, North Carolina. It's truly a marvel of architecture and history, built by George Vanderbilt. It's famous not just for its sheer size, but for its exquisite art, opulent furnishings, and the incredible foresight of its creators to build such a grand estate amidst breathtaking natural beauty. For me, it's absolutely worth it for the chance to step back in time and witness such grandeur. One of the big questions I had while planning was, "when is the best time to visit Biltmore Estate?" From my research and talking to friends who've been, each season offers something unique! Spring brings vibrant gardens, summer is lush and green (but can be crowded!), fall boasts spectacular foliage, and winter transforms the estate with festive holiday decorations. I'm going during early fall to catch some of the beautiful changing leaves, which I hear is just magical! No matter when you go, make sure to book your tickets in advance, especially for tours or special events. And of course, for my "Ready for the Biltmore!" post, an #ootd is a must! I've been thinking about what to wear, and my top tip is comfort meets chic. You'll be doing a lot of walking, both inside the house and exploring the expansive gardens, so comfortable shoes are non-negotiable. Think layers too, as the weather can change. For my GDWM (Get Dressed With Me) Biltmore edition, I'm leaning towards a stylish midi dress paired with comfortable but cute flats and a light cardigan. It strikes that perfect balance of being picture-ready and practical for all the exploring. You want to look good for those Instagram moments, but still be able to enjoy every corner of the estate! Beyond the mansion itself, the Biltmore Estate also boasts a fantastic winery! I'm so excited for my winery visit. It's located in Antler Hill Village, and it's a perfect spot to relax and sample some of their award-winning wines. Most visits include a complimentary tasting, but they also offer enhanced experiences like behind-the-scenes tours and specialty tastings. It's a wonderful way to unwind after exploring the house and gardens, and maybe even pick up a unique souvenir. Make sure to factor in time to explore the village as well, with its shops and farm. Overall, my advice for anyone considering a visit is to pace yourself. There's so much to see, from the main house to the gardens, the conservatory, Antler Hill Village, and of course, the winery. Plan for at least a full day, if not two, to truly soak it all in. Bring your camera, wear those comfy shoes, and get ready to be absolutely enchanted by the Biltmore Estate. I can't wait to share more from my trip!
