if you care about people get over your ego and apologize first. or don’t hahahaha
In my experience, the act of apologizing first is rarely easy—it demands vulnerability and putting aside one's pride. Yet, I've found that those who muster the courage to apologize genuinely often salvage and even strengthen relationships. Time passing doesn’t magically cleanse wounds caused by hurtful actions. Instead, it sometimes dulls the intensity but doesn’t eliminate the pain or the need for acknowledgment. I recall a friendship where lack of apology led to lingering resentment, despite time and efforts to move on. Only when my friend took the step to say, “I’m sorry,” did the bridge between us start to mend. Apologies must also come with a willingness to change behavior, not just words. Without this, hurt lingers and trust erodes. It’s common to expect others to forget or move past conflicts quickly, but everyone processes pain differently. Some hold onto hurts longer because they care deeply, and that care is often why apologies matter so much. Approaching someone with humility—not to win or be right, but to genuinely make amends—can be transformative. So, if you value a relationship, be willing to get over your ego and apologize first. It might feel uncomfortable, but it shows respect and consideration. Remember, apology is not a sign of weakness but strength—a foundation to rebuild trust and nurture lasting connections.
