The TEST button on the Residual Current Device - RCD, also known as ELCB / RCBO, is for testing the operation of the breakers' automatic circuit detection and cutting mechanism. ⚠️
◼️ The main purpose of the test.
The main purpose is to allow users to confirm that the antisuction breaker can also cut the circuit properly when an electrical leak occurs or a current flows into the ground that can endanger life and property.
◼️ How it works when pressing the TEST button
When you press the TEST button:
1. The internal system of the breaker is simulated to have a leakage or unbalanced current in the circuit within itself.
2. The detection mechanism of the breaker (which normally operates when there is a real leakage current) will recognize this malfunction.
3. If the mechanism is working normally, the breaker must cut the circuit (Trip) immediately to show that it is available and can prevent harm.
◼️ Recommended frequency
Most manufacturers often recommend testing by pressing this TEST button, at least once a month, to ensure that the antisuction breaker is still working effectively.
