5. Negative self-talk
6. Resentment & anger
7. Unhealthy habits

🌟 What’s one thing you’re ready to let go of this week?
... Read moreHey everyone! Building on the idea of letting go and trusting God, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into what that truly looks like in our daily lives. It's not always easy, right? But the peace and freedom we gain are so worth it.
One of the biggest things I've personally had to grapple with is finding freedom from bitterness. The article touched on Ephesians 4:31-32, which really emphasizes letting go of bitterness, anger, and resentment, and instead embracing kindness and forgiveness. It’s powerful! I've learned that holding onto bitterness only hurts me, not the person who caused the pain. It’s like drinking poison and expecting the other person to get sick. Choosing to forgive isn't about condoning what happened, but about releasing myself from the emotional prison. It's a daily choice, and sometimes a prayer like, "God, help me release this bitterness and fill my heart with Your kindness and forgiveness," can make all the difference.
Beyond Ephesians, there are so many bible verses about letting go and trusting God that have helped me. When anxiety tries to creep in, Philippians 4:6-7 reminds me to "not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." And for general trust, Proverbs 3:5-6 is a classic: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." These verses really help me remember that letting go is about acknowledging God's control and trusting His perfect plan.
If you're looking for practical ways to process all this, especially if you're exploring prayer journal entry examples, I highly recommend starting a journal dedicated to your "letting go" journey. You can write down specific fears, anxieties, or resentments you want to release and then write out prayers asking God for help. Another incredibly useful tool is the devotional SOAP method. It stands for:
Scripture: Pick a verse, like Ephesians 4:31-32, or one of the others mentioned.
Observation: What does this verse say? What stands out to you?
Application: How can you apply this verse to your current situation? How does it relate to something you need to let go of?
Prayer: Write a prayer based on what you've learned and how you want God to work in your life.
For example, using Ephesians 4:31-32, a SOAP entry might look like this:
S: "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you."
O: This verse directly tells me to remove all negative, harmful emotions and actions. It then gives me the positive actions to replace them with: kindness, tenderheartedness, and forgiveness, mirroring God's forgiveness.
A: I need to actively work on letting go of the lingering resentment I feel towards [specific situation/person]. I can choose to be kind and empathetic, even when it's hard, remembering how much God has forgiven me.
P: Dear God, please help me to truly let go of all bitterness and anger in my heart. Guide me to respond with kindness and to be tenderhearted, just as You are with me. Help me to forgive others as You have forgiven me, so I can experience Your peace and freedom. Amen.
This method has been a game-changer for me in deepening my understanding and application of scripture. Letting go is a continuous journey, but with God's guidance and these practical tools, we can truly find that peace and freedom He promises!
I need to stop caring so much about people that don’t really care for me as much as i care for them!
