How I Became A Morning Person ✨

It starts the night before 🌙

Establishing a solid evening routine is the key to waking up and actually enjoying an earlier start to the day. Here’s what helped me become a 7 AM riser all year round. Yes, even on the weekends ☕️

〜 Start slow

Why become a morning person?

Studies have found that morning people are often more proactive, have better mental health, and are generally more productive throughout the day. Early risers also tend to get better quality sleep, which improves overall well-being. 🌅

... Read moreHey everyone! Building on my journey to becoming a morning person, I wanted to dive deeper into some practical strategies that really made a difference for me, especially when it came to boosting my productivity and hitting those big goals. It's not just about setting an earlier alarm; it's about creating a system that sets you up for success, starting the night before! First off, let's talk about the evening routine. The original post briefly mentioned it, but honestly, this is where the magic truly begins. I used to just crash into bed, but now I dedicate an hour before sleep to winding down. This means no screens for at least 30 minutes before I want to sleep. Instead, I might read a physical book, do some light stretching, or even prepare my desk setup for the next morning – making sure my laptop is charged, my notebook is ready for journaling, and my to-do list is prepped. I've even started using a physical calendar to jot down my main focus for the next day, which really helps me visualize success. This helps signal to my body that it's time to relax, leading to better quality sleep and making that early wake-up so much easier. When it comes to actually shifting your wake up time, the "start slow" advice is gold, but let's get specific. Don't jump from 8 AM to 5 AM overnight! I found that consistently setting my alarm just 15 minutes earlier each week was incredibly effective. Once I felt comfortable waking up at the new time, I'd shift it back another 15 minutes. This gradual "scaling up" allows your body to adjust without feeling completely exhausted. Consistency is key here; even on weekends, try to stick within an hour of your weekday wake-up time. And what about those mornings when you just want to hit snooze? I've been there! My trick? Place your alarm across the room, so you have to get out of bed to turn it off. And as soon as my feet hit the floor, I have a pre-planned, enjoyable activity ready. Beyond the reading and journaling I mentioned, you could try a short 10-minute meditation, listen to an uplifting podcast, or simply enjoy a cup of fresh coffee or tea in silence. Remember that "create space" advice? It’s about having that quiet time for yourself, rather than immediately grabbing your phone and diving into emails or social media. This small act of self-care sets a positive tone for the entire day. Finally, how does all this connect to productivity and achieving goals? For me, these early mornings create a precious window of uninterrupted time. I use it to tackle my most important task (my "MIT") before the day gets chaotic. This could be planning my day, working on a personal project, or even just clearing my mind. By getting a head start, I feel more in control, less rushed, and have a clearer focus for what I want to accomplish. It’s like giving myself a head start in a race, and it makes all the difference in feeling successful and accomplished by the end of the day. So, if you're looking to "scale up" your productivity and reach those goals, embracing the morning truly is a game-changer!
