Pregnancy after loss 🫶

Most people don’t realize how common

pregnancy after loss actually is.

After a miscarriage or pregnancy loss, 50–80% of women will become pregnant again within 12–18 months.

But pregnancy after loss isn’t the

same as pregnancy before.

Every milestone feels fragile.

Every appointment feels heavier.

Every moment carries both hope and fear.

Because when you’ve experienced loss,

you understand how precious life truly is.

March is Pregnancy After Loss Awareness Month.

For the babies we lost.

For the mothers who carry that grief forever.

And for the rainbow babies who come after the storm.

... Read morePregnancy after loss is a deeply personal and emotional journey that differs significantly from any previous pregnancy experience. From my own experience and conversations with others who have gone through this, the feelings of hope and anxiety often coexist throughout the pregnancy. Each milestone, from hearing the heartbeat to the first ultrasound, can elicit overwhelming emotions because of the fear of loss combined with the joy of new life. One important aspect to recognize is how common pregnancy after loss really is — studies show that 50-80% of women who experience a miscarriage or pregnancy loss become pregnant again within 12 to 18 months. Yet despite how frequent it is, many people don’t openly talk about it, which can make this journey feel isolating. Pregnancy After Loss Awareness Month, observed in March, plays a vital role in providing support and acknowledgment. It honors the babies who were lost and offers comfort to mothers who carry the grief, while also celebrating the rainbow babies—a term used for babies born after a loss—who symbolize hope and healing. Personally, I found that connecting with support groups and sharing my story helped me cope emotionally. Reading about others’ experiences reminded me that my feelings were valid and that I was not alone. It also helped me prepare mentally and physically for the fragility of this new pregnancy. The process requires extra patience and self-care, as every prenatal appointment felt more significant and nerve-wracking. However, embracing this heightened awareness also brought me deeper appreciation for the preciousness of life and the strength of resilience. If you or someone you know is going through pregnancy after loss, remember that grief and hope can coexist. Seeking support, practicing mindfulness, and honoring your emotions are key steps toward navigating this complex journey with compassion and strength.

How do people handle pregnancy after they lose a baby? It's been rough when people ask how I'm feeling with the current pregnancy. I'm excited that me and boyfriend are expecting, but it's also nerve-wracking, too. Any tips and advice would be helpful.
