5 things that keep me sane as a SAHM

1 week agoEdited to

... Read moreBeing a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) can feel overwhelming at times, but implementing simple daily habits can truly make a difference in your mental and emotional well-being. One strategy I’ve found especially helpful is prioritizing comfort and ease in my wardrobe. Choosing clothes that are both cute and comfortable saves me time and boosts my confidence, especially with the many body changes motherhood brings. It’s worth investing in pieces that make you feel good throughout the day. Consistency in self-care routines is another game changer. Taking a few minutes each day to do my hair and apply light makeup, like tinted sunscreen and blush, helps me feel refreshed and ready to tackle daily tasks. I even opted for a mom chop haircut to streamline styling and reduce time spent in front of the mirror. Carving out 30 to 60 minutes for alone time is crucial. Whether it’s a brisk walk, a gentle workout, or simply moments to decompress, this practice preserves my mental health and energy. Even if you're not into intense exercise, light movement or quiet time can recharge your body and mind. Getting outside daily is a lifesaver. Staying indoors all day can feel stifling, so I make it a point to leave the house every day—whether for errands, kids’ activities, or simply spending time in the yard. Fresh air and a change of scenery help reset my mood and make everything feel more manageable. Lastly, planning and taking regular trips, big or small, offers a vital break from routine. Traveling with my kids not only enriches their world but also lifts the household mental load. Aim to travel at least once every month or two to create joyful experiences and recharge everyone’s spirits. Overall, balancing self-care, outdoor time, and family adventures keeps me grounded and sane as a SAHM. These practical habits might help you find your own balance too.
