But here’s my first #cosplay post on this app. I could’ve done so much better, but I only had like…2 days to get ready and I not only had to fix like…mine and 3 other peoples wigs, but the prop was taking too long to finish 😭💜
🐉Anyways, I’m cosplaying Elma Joui from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid! It’s one of my first anime’s that I watched so I’m really glad I was finally able to build up enough courage to cosplay one of my favorite characters. I wanted to cosplay Lucoa, but I’d be missing a few assets. These aren’t all of the pictures, but you can find more in a few days on my insta (gae_mochi). Anyways, here you go lmao💜
OMG, you guys, I'm still buzzing from finally debuting my Elma Joui cosplay! When I mentioned I only had two days to pull it all together, I wasn't kidding. It felt like a mad dash, but honestly, that's half the fun of cosplay, right? You push your limits and see what magic you can create under pressure. For this Elma Joui costume, the biggest hurdle wasn't just my own wig, but helping out friends with theirs too! Juggling multiple projects means you really learn to manage your time and resources. And then there was the prop – Elma’s trident-like weapon! Crafting props can be so tricky. I had envisioned it perfectly, but making it durable enough for photoshoots and accurate to her design took way longer than expected. I was literally finishing it moments before heading out! But seeing it come together, especially holding it while posing on that grassy slope or sitting on a low stone wall, made all the effort worth it. The details really bring the character to life, from the majestic purple hair and horn to her signature light purple kimono-style outfit. Choosing Elma Joui from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid was an an easy decision for me. She's such a sweet, food-loving dragon, and her character design is just iconic. If you're thinking about cosplaying a character from your favorite anime, I totally recommend picking someone you deeply connect with. It makes the entire process, from planning to execution, so much more enjoyable. For anyone eyeing an Elma cosplay, pay close attention to her distinct horn and the intricate patterns of her outfit. Even small elements like a face covering or a black top under her kimono can make a huge difference in accuracy. One thing I've learned is that every cosplay journey has its ups and downs. Whether it's a wig refusing to cooperate, a prop falling apart, or simply feeling like you're not 'enough' for a character, those moments are part of the process. What matters is the joy of bringing your favorite waifu anime character to life and sharing that passion with others. Don't be afraid to experiment with different materials for your props or try new wig styling techniques. There are so many amazing tutorials out there, and the cosplay community is usually super supportive. And hey, if you’re ever wondering about great spots for photos, look for natural backdrops! We found a fantastic grassy field and even a cool spot with dark animal statues that added a unique vibe to the photos. Getting those shots where you’re walking on the field, trident in hand, or striking a pose outdoors really captures the essence of the character. Remember, it’s all about expressing your love for the character and having fun. Who knows, maybe my next project will be another dragon maid… Lucoa, perhaps? 😉
