The Best Strawberry Gut Health Smoothie

The term “gut health” has become significantly more popular over the last decade, with so many looking for answers to create a healthier gut microbiome and alleviate symptoms of digestive discomfort.

That’s where this creamy strawberry gut health smoothie comes in – as a quick and easy way to consume gut-healthy ingredients packed with prebiotics and probiotics.

It’s healthy, refreshing, and can be thrown together in less than 5 minutes! The “star” of this smoothie is kefir- a seriously underrated probiotic beverage with significantly more live, active cultures than yogurt.

WHY I CALL THIS A “GUT HEALTH” SMOOTHIE

Research regarding gut health has exploded over the past decade, however, the gut microbiome is very complex and influenced by a number of factors. Therefore, there is much more research that needs to be done to understand the complexities of our gut microbiome.

Probiotics have been shown to improve digestion and immunity. Consuming a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and fiber can provide that prebiotic food needed for that good bacteria to thrive in our intestinal tract

Therefore, this gut health smoothie contains 1) probiotics from both kefir and Greek yogurt, 2) prebiotics from the 12+ grams of fiber, and 3) 22 grams of protein for both increased satisfaction and to promote a healthier gut microbiota.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Strawberry 1% Milkfat Kefir

1 5.5-oz. container (or 1/2 cup) Chobani Vanilla Greek Yogurt

1-2 tablespoons chia seeds

1 cup frozen strawberries

1/2 cup Vita Coco Coconut Water with Pineapple, or water

Drizzle of honey (optional)

Detailed Steps:

Measure all ingredients. Pour coconut water, then kefir, yogurt, honey, strawberries and chia seeds into blender.

Blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

One of the biggest game-changers for me was understanding the power of specific ingredients. When I reach for my STRAWBERRY KEFIR, I know I'm getting a powerhouse of diverse probiotic strains, often more than regular yogurt. It’s seriously amazing how these tiny microbes can impact everything from digestion to mood! Pairing that with CHOBANI GREEK YOGURT not only boosts the protein content, keeping me feeling full and satisfied, but also adds another layer of beneficial bacteria. It’s like a gut-friendly dynamic duo! Then there are the FROZEN STRAWBERRIES. Beyond their delicious sweetness and vibrant color (hello, 'pink drink' vibes!), they're packed with fiber, which acts as a prebiotic, feeding those good gut bacteria we just added. Plus, they're loaded with antioxidants – a total win-win for overall health. And don't even get me started on CHIA SEEDS! These tiny wonders swell up, providing both soluble and insoluble fiber, which is crucial for regularity and a healthy gut lining. I've heard they can also help reduce inflammation, which is a common issue for many dealing with digestive discomfort. For the liquid base, COCONUT WATER with pineapple adds a lovely tropical hint and electrolytes, keeping me hydrated. But if you don't have it, plain water or even a splash of unsweetened almond milk works too. The beauty of this recipe is its flexibility!
