Frustrated with myself

#lemon8diarychallenge I decided to work on putting my contacts in today and unfortunately everything was stacked against me. I was hot and sweaty and shaking a little bit. Being one handed I couldn’t get my contacts to sit properly on my finger and I lost the one for my right eye which I do have a backup one for just such a situation. Right as I decided I needed a break from that today and I will get better at it with more practice, I got an email from my eye doctor.

This trial pair was only temporary. We ordered a different pair when I got these and the new ones arrived today. So I have an appointment next week to get the new ones.

And unlike with these I am not allowing them to put them in for me. I’m definitely gonna insist they let me practice putting them in one handed.

I was so frustrated with myself and ready to give up on contacts completely and then I out of nowhere got that email which in my mind is just confirmation that I do just need to practice it and eventually I’ll be a pro at it.

It's common for new contact lens users to encounter moments of frustration and setbacks during their initial attempts. Addressing these challenges not only requires patience but also the right techniques for inserting and removing lenses safely. For those practicing one-handed insertion, it's helpful to develop strategies such as using a mirror for better visibility and practicing in a calm, well-lit environment. In addition, understanding the importance of hygiene and proper lens care can significantly improve the experience and comfort of wearing contacts. Regular follow-ups with your eye doctor can also provide valuable insights and adjustments to ensure you're on the right path. With time and practice, wearing contact lenses can become a seamless part of daily life, enhancing vision without the fuss of glasses.
