You Look Happier But This Is How Healing Looks

Someone said, “You look happier,” and I smiled…

But here’s what they didn’t see 💭

Lately, postpartum hair loss has had me deep in my feelings. It’s something people don’t talk about enough, and honestly, it’s been affecting my confidence more than I expected. I’ve caught myself avoiding the camera, even in family photos.

But today? I got up.

I got the girls dressed.

And we went blueberry picking—together, for the first time this season. 💙

It wasn’t a fancy outing. No big plans. Just sunshine, a basket, and a quiet walk through rows of berries. But it felt like a reset for my heart.

As a mom, especially after having a baby, it’s so easy to give and give and forget that we’re healing too. But these small family moments—these slow days outside, these shared smiles—they’re part of the process.

So if you’re in a season of rebuilding… of gently coming back to yourself while still showing up for your family… I see you. You’re not alone.

Healing can be loud, but sometimes it looks like this:

💙 A handful of berries.

💚 A tired but proud mama smile.

💜 And two little girls who are learning how to find joy in the simple things.

Follow @MokenchiTV for simple ways to slow down, laugh more, and make sweet memories through nature, creativity, travel, and time well spent together. ❤️

... Read morePostpartum healing is a deeply personal and often overlooked journey that encompasses both physical and emotional recovery. Many new mothers face challenges such as postpartum hair loss, which can significantly impact self-esteem and confidence. Though it might seem like a small issue, this hair thinning can be distressing and contribute to feelings of vulnerability during an already demanding time. It's essential to recognize that healing isn't always visible or dramatic. Sometimes, it looks like taking slow, mindful steps to reconnect with oneself and loved ones. Simple activities like spending time outdoors, engaging in shared family experiences such as blueberry picking, and embracing moments of calm can act as powerful forms of emotional restoration. Mental health during postpartum is equally crucial. Many mothers experience a range of emotions from joy to sadness and fatigue—acknowledging these feelings without judgment is an important aspect of healing. Support systems, whether from family, friends, or communities focused on maternal wellness, play a key role in fostering resilience. Moreover, the phrase "Healing looks like this" highlights that recovery is not always obvious through appearances. A tired but proud smile, small joys found in nature, and the gradual rebuilding of self-confidence are all valid indicators of progress. Embracing these moments helps normalize the postpartum experience and encourages mothers to be gentle with themselves. In addition, sharing personal stories publicly, as exemplified by this article, helps raise awareness and reduces stigma around postpartum challenges. This openness invites others to feel less isolated and more empowered to seek support. For mothers navigating this season, incorporating practices like mindfulness, creative expression, and regular time in nature can enhance healing. Practical tips include maintaining a balanced diet to support hair health, gentle exercise, and allowing oneself the grace to rest when needed. Ultimately, recovery after childbirth is a multifaceted process. Recognizing that healing can be quiet, imperfect, and deeply personal allows mothers to reclaim their joy and strength in their own time and way.
