They serve sukiyaki and Taiwanese-style hot pot with a light broth. (It’s not exactly shabu-shabu, it’s similar, but different from the ponzu-style we usually have in Japan)
The quality is top-tier, featuring ingredients like A5 Miyazaki Wagyu and fresh mud crab.
The set comes with two appetizers (we got crab tofu + takowasa), a veggie basket, soup, your choice of protein, dessert, and a carb to finish, I highly recommend the congee! The service here is next level, they cook everything right in front of you and even deshell the crab for you.
👉️Birthday Special: Members get free deep-fried scallops! Membership is free, shared with Dinesty, and gets you 20% off Lattea drinks.
👉️Kids' Set: Available for $29.
👉️Happy Hour: Monday to Thursday from 4:30–6 PM, you get a free meat upgrade with any combo!
⚠️I saw some people describe this as "Omakase," but it’s not...it’s simply a set combo menu.

If you're a hot pot enthusiast looking to explore flavors beyond the traditional Japanese shabu-shabu, Mikann Shabu offers a refreshing Taiwanese-style hot pot experience that truly stands out. The broth is noticeably lighter and uses delicate kelp flavors, making it a perfect base to highlight the quality of their premium ingredients, like the melt-in-your-mouth A5 Miyazaki Wagyu and fresh mud crab. One of my favorite parts about dining here is the interactive service—staff cook your selections right in front of you and even deshell the crab meat, which makes for a very comfortable and special experience. It feels like a perfect blend of personal attention and culinary showmanship. The set menu is thoughtfully curated and includes two appetizers that can vary, like crab tofu and takowasa, a vegetable basket, and a soup base, followed by your choice of high-quality protein. For the grand finale, the leftover broth is transformed into a rich and comforting congee, which I highly recommend. It’s a satisfying way to end the meal and really showcases the depth of flavor developed during your hot pot session. If you happen to be celebrating a birthday, signing up for their free membership is definitely worth it—not only do you get complimentary deep-fried scallops, but the membership also offers discounts on Lattea beverages, which are part of the same restaurant group. The kids' set is a great option for families, priced at $29, making it a family-friendly spot for Richmond locals and visitors alike. Another bonus is their happy hour, available Monday to Thursday from 4:30 to 6 PM, where you can enjoy a free upgrade on your meat choice with any combo. This is a fantastic deal for anyone wanting to experience a bit more luxury without breaking the bank. Overall, Mikann Shabu provides a unique hot pot experience that's both authentic to Taiwanese flavors and elevated by premium ingredients and attentive service. Whether you’re planning a date night, family outing, or casual gathering, this spot is definitely worth adding to your Richmond food adventure list.
