WHAT you eat matters alongside how MUCH you eat

6/12 Edited to

... Read moreFrom my personal experience, dialing in pre-workout nutrition has been a game changer in reaching fitness goals like fat loss and muscle gain. I've realized that not only what you eat, but also when you eat before training, can greatly impact your energy, workout intensity, and recovery. One key component I focus on is consuming fast-digesting carbohydrates approximately 30 to 60 minutes before my session. For example, including cream of rice mixed with oats provides a good balance of quick and slower digesting carbs. This blend fuels me through my training without causing digestive discomfort. Adding protein powder supports muscle repair and keeps me feeling full longer, helping prevent mid-workout fatigue. I also find that a small amount of healthy fats, like a spoonful of peanut butter, contributes to satiety without weighing me down. Including berries not only adds flavor and antioxidants but also helps regulate blood sugar levels for steady energy. Timing is crucial too—eating too close to training can slow digestion, while eating too early may leave me feeling hungry or drained. Adjusting the portion sizes based on workout intensity and current calorie goals, especially when in a calorie deficit, has helped me maintain performance and promote muscle maintenance. Incorporating these approaches into my nutrition plan has improved my overall workout quality and body composition results. Being intentional about pre-workout meals—considering calories, macronutrient types, and timing—makes a tangible difference in reaching physique goals.
