What Motivates Me to Workout?

Why I Workout and You Should to👇

Personally, I have always been underestimated for most of my life.

Whether it was because of my height, my ethnicity, or my capabilities as a kid, I was seen as inferior in things outside of school.

Why would I wanna let those haters be correct?

I love proving people wrong, and when I realized that the only way I could actually prove them wrong is to be insanely, consistent and taking action, that is when I was able to overcome the odds.

How does this apply to you?

Maybe you weren’t seen as less or anything but there’s always a deeper root for why you do certain things.

This is just one of the many things for why I work out so often and so much.

For you and maybe the same or similar, but it is unique to you and your situation, so reflect on what you’re trying to accomplish and see what are the things that you need to do and working out is part of it.

Everyone should consider working out because health is insanely important and can definitely impact you and your life in many ways that you couldn’t have imagined.

But what if I told you that building sustainable workout motivation is more about strategy than just willpower? I definitely know the feeling of struggling to get started or hitting a wall where consistent working out feels impossible. Over time, I’ve discovered a few practical ways to push past the inertia and keep moving, even when I feel totally underrated or just plain tired. First, you need to find your deepest 'why'. My motivation often comes from a place of wanting to prove haters wrong, but your 'why' might be completely different, and that's perfectly okay! Is it for better sleep, more energy, less stress, or simply feeling stronger and more capable? Really dig deep into what motivates you intrinsically. Write it down, visualize it. For some, it's about transforming their body and trying to be yoked; for others, it's the mental clarity and resilience fitness builds. When motivation is low, the idea of a huge workout can be overwhelming. Instead, commit to just 15-20 minutes. A short walk, a quick bodyweight circuit – anything to get moving. Success in small steps builds confidence. You'll often find that once you start, you'll want to keep going! This approach makes working out less daunting and more achievable. If you dread your workouts, you won't stick with them. Experiment! Try dancing, hiking, cycling, team sports, or even a fun online class. Find something that genuinely brings you joy, or at least doesn't feel like a chore. This makes working out something to look forward to, not something you have to do. Treat your workouts like non-negotiable appointments. Schedule them in your calendar. The more consistent you are, the more it becomes a habit. Soon, it'll feel weird not to exercise. This consistency helps you overcome days when you feel underrated or uninspired, because the routine itself pulls you through. Seeing how far you've come is incredibly motivating. Whether it's lifting heavier, running further, or just feeling more energetic, acknowledge your achievements. Take photos, log your workouts, celebrate small milestones. This reinforces that your efforts are paying off and helps silence that inner voice that sometimes thinks 'everyone thinks I'm a nerd' and can't achieve physical goals. On days when I'm dragging, I remind myself how amazing I'll feel after the workout. The energy boost, the stress relief, the sense of accomplishment – these are powerful motivators. It’s about reframing exercise from a burden to a reward. You'll often find that the biggest hurdle is just getting started, and once you're in it, the feeling of empowerment takes over. Remember, consistency beats perfection, and finding your personal drive is the ultimate secret to an unstoppable fitness journey!
