I’ve been reflecting, especially with all of the content coming out about Coachella. These “influencers” spend so much time trying to act/look right that they aren’t living IN the moment. I’ve seen so many videos of the Coachella crowds being still/lame AF while artists I’d LOVE to see are putting on their BEST show. I fear many of us spend WAY too much time/enegy/money trying to be cool then we do just being happy in the life we are in. I want my daughter to be happy and IN the moment when she’s older. #mom #momthoughts #hottake #coachella #behappy
From personal experience, I’ve noticed that in today’s social media-driven world, many people get caught up in projecting an image of happiness rather than truly experiencing it. At events like Coachella, it’s easy to become distracted by capturing the perfect photo or video to share online, which ironically can lead to missing out on the live energy and emotions of the moment. The OCR quote, “Is it just me or do we spend too much time trying to look happy than we do than just BEING happy?” really resonates with me. It highlights a common struggle—prioritizing appearances over authentic feelings. I’ve found that when I consciously decide to put my phone away and immerse myself in what’s happening around me, I feel more connected and fulfilled. This reflection is especially poignant for parents who want to teach their children the value of presence. By modeling how to be happy truly and fully, rather than showcasing an idealized version of life, we help the next generation cultivate emotional resilience and genuine contentment. It’s a powerful reminder that happiness isn’t about external validation; it’s about appreciating the simple, imperfect moments right in front of us. If you find yourself spending too much energy and money trying to look cool or fit in, it might be time to pause and ask: Am I living or just performing? Shifting focus to being happy — not just looking happy — can transform your experiences and improve your overall well-being. This mindset can help you enjoy live music, family time, and everyday life so much more deeply.
