Let’s talk about traumatic loss and grief.

A week ago we traumatically lost our kitten because our dog attacked him. My four year old witnessed everything happened.

I have never been in such a traumatic state before and this is all new to me.

I keep thinking our little binxy boy is going to pop up out from behind the couch, or under the bed and play. Or sit under my feet while I cook. I have never grieved so much for a pet, but let’s be honest, this was my cat. He was the first cat that I went out and found and named. He was mine.

We only had him for two and a half months and it was the best two and a half months. He gave us all the loves and I cherished every moment with him.

If you’ve experienced something traumatic, how did you get through it? What brought you peace?

I'm so sorry for your loss. Things happen beyond your control. You live & learn. I personally experienced something similar when I was probably pre teen or early teen. I still remember that dog and the kitten, it's not something I'll ever forget. I just know now to never leave my dog or dogs alone with a cat. There's always the possibility of something going wrong if you do. Especially if it's more than one dog. Pack mentality could kick in instantly and your cat will become prey. Praying for you and your son. It gets easier with time and won't dominate your mind.
