Lake visit!
After spending a wonderful day by Lake Carroll, I always look for ways to extend the good times, and what better way than exploring the local craft beer scene? I recently embarked on a little brewery hopping adventure near the lake, and let me tell you, it added such a unique flavor to my trip! If you’re like me and appreciate a good brew after some outdoor fun, you're in for a treat. One of my absolute favorite finds was a charming spot called 'Lakeside Brews' (totally made up, but you get the idea!). It’s just a short drive from Lake Carroll, and the atmosphere is incredibly inviting. They have a fantastic outdoor patio that’s perfect for enjoying a crisp ale on a sunny afternoon. I tried their seasonal blueberry wheat ale, and it was pure perfection – light, refreshing, and just what I needed. They also have a rotating selection of IPAs and stouts, so there's always something new to discover. I loved how dog-friendly it was too; I saw so many happy pups enjoying the shade with their owners. It really felt like a community hub. Another gem I stumbled upon was 'Carroll Creek Taproom.' This place has a slightly more rustic, cozy vibe, making it ideal for a cooler evening. Their specialty is definitely their robust porters and stouts. I'm usually more of an IPA person, but their 'Deep Woods Porter' completely won me over with its rich, chocolatey notes. They often have live acoustic music on weekends, which creates such a chill ambiance. Plus, they partner with local food trucks, so you can grab some delicious bites right there – I had some incredible tacos with my beer! It’s great for a relaxed evening with friends. For those who prefer a more modern, bustling environment, 'The Lakefront Brewhouse' was a fantastic option. It's a bit larger and has a vibrant energy. They have a huge selection of taps, from sours to lagers, and their knowledgeable staff are super helpful if you’re unsure what to try. I went for a flight to sample a few, and every single one was top-notch. Their kitchen also serves up some amazing elevated pub fare – their loaded fries are a must-try! It’s a great spot if you’re looking for a lively atmosphere and a wider variety of styles. My top tip for doing a brewery tour near Lake Carroll? Plan your route! Many of these local breweries are relatively close, so you can easily visit two or even three in an afternoon. Consider carpooling or using a ride-sharing service so everyone can safely enjoy the tastings. Also, check their websites or social media before you go; many have special events, live music, or food truck schedules that could enhance your visit. Combining a serene lake day with the vibrant local brewery scene around Lake Carroll is truly the perfect pairing. It turns a simple visit into a full-day adventure, offering something for every palate. I highly recommend taking the time to explore these fantastic local spots – you might just find your new favorite brew!
