🙅🏾‍♀Debunking The Lies We Are Told As Women💜

In honour of International Women's Day, I’ve been thinking about the things I’m slowly unlearning as a woman.

So many expectations were taught to us growing up — these are some I’ve unlearned over time.

📍Decentering Men

For a long time, women are taught (subtly or directly) to prioritise male validation — in our looks, choices, and even life paths.

Instead of being asked what makes us happy, many women are often asked, “When are you getting married?”

🙋🏾‍♀ Our lives, goals, and happiness deserve to come first — and we shouldn’t be made to feel guilty or labeled “selfish” for it.

It’s not about hating men.

💁🏾‍♀It’s about no longer building our lives around male validation, approval, or attention.

And that? That feels incredibly freeing.

📍I’m “not woman enough.”

Being told I’m “not woman enough.”

Because I don’t conform to what men think women should be.

Soft enough. Quiet enough. Agreeable enough.

🙅🏾‍♀I'm unlearning the need to prove my womanhood.

I don’t have to shrink myself into what a patriarchal society thinks a woman should be.

🤷🏾‍♀ My womanhood isn’t up for debate.

Womanhood isn’t something men get to define.

🌺Women are far more complex than that.

In all our shapes, colours, sizes, and identities,

we are still women.

🥱Some men think there is only one kind of woman — one beauty standard, one personality, one way to exist.

But women are myriad.

📍Challenging the “Only Men” Rules

Stop restricting ourselves with the belief that we’re not allowed in certain spaces.

💪🏾 Women can do anything they put their mind to — even enter spaces traditionally seen as “for men only.”

It’s easy for men to be flawed, corrupt, or make mistakes and still be loved, accepted, or celebrated.

We women?

🤔We’re reminded daily that we’re not enough,

and still have to fight for space, recognition, and leadership.

Together, there is nothing we cannot achieve.

🫣I used to hate being a woman.

I used to think, “If only I were a boy.”

Now, at 30, I know:

🥰Being a woman is a divine gift.

✨And no one should tell you otherwise.

What’s something you’re unlearning? 🌸

... Read moreLiving as a woman today often means navigating through a maze of societal expectations and stereotypes. One powerful realization I’ve come to embrace is that womanhood is not a fixed definition set by others but a fluid and unique identity for each individual. This means rejecting the idea that there is a single way to be a woman or a single path to happiness. Many of us grow up hearing implicit messages that our worth is tied to male approval or that certain traits like softness and agreeability define our femininity. Through my own journey, I've learned to challenge those assumptions and celebrate my authentic self instead. For instance, I've realized that being ambitious, loud, or fiercely independent doesn’t make me “less” of a woman, but simply a fuller expression of my identity. The phrase 'Unmasking The Life Of A Woman,' which resonated deeply with me, captures the essence of shedding societal masks to reveal the multifaceted, complex nature of womanhood. This includes acknowledging the diverse ways women express themselves across cultures, identities, and experiences. It’s also crucial to recognize the persistent barriers women face in spaces traditionally dominated by men. Breaking into these areas isn’t just about proving capability but affirming our rightful place in every sphere of life. Encouraging women to pursue their passions and careers without restrictions not only empowers individuals but instills hope for future generations. To anyone struggling with the pressure of conforming to narrow expectations: remember that your womanhood is yours alone. It isn’t measured by how well you fit into someone else’s mold but by how authentically you live and love yourself. This mindset has been freeing for me, and sharing these thoughts helps foster a community where every woman’s story is honored and celebrated.

The truth most women don’t want to hear…
I always see many women complaining about how their husbands betrayed them or even abused them. But girl… from the first mistake, (是我们自己)we chose to forgive. *It’s not that he has no fault.* But *it’s us* that kept giving him the chance to make the same mistake again and again. *It’s us*

A foundation book in feminism
I didn’t expect A Room of One’s Own to feel so relevant, even now. Virginia Woolf wrote this nearly a century ago, but her words still carry the quiet force of a truth we’re still learning to live out. At its core, this is more than a feminist essay—it’s a call for space. Space to think. To cr
