crochet books! (pattern in description)
So my coworker decided to talk about these books during work to me, and for someone who has no reason to touch those books because of the trigger warnings, I have no desire whatsoever to read them now that I know a bit about the third book lmao. However! we had some good laughs about her obsession with the violence. If you have read the series, that's great. No hate and no shade!
Here's the pattern. I made it up so if someone has something similar or the same, I'm sorry I just did it and I don't want to gatekeep something so simple and fun!
I used yarn for a 4.5mm hook (u.s.) but used a 3.0mm hook so there wouldn't be holes (or big ones I guess).
Note: You can make the book taller by not making as many chains in the beginning and making more rows, or you can make chunkier books by reducing the rows and making the initial chains the same or making more chains.
Crochet book pattern:
abbreviations:
ch- chain
sc- single crochet
slst-slip stitch
(#)- number of stitches at the end of a row
Book cover:
(in your choice color of yarn)
1. ch 20
2. turn over work and sc in the back bar (see picture) of the second chain from the hook and sc all the way to the end. ch1 and turn work. (19)
3-10. (8 rows). 19sc, ch1, turn work (19)
11. 19sc and instead of chaining one and turning you'll change colors to make the border. (see picture) (19)
12. sc all the way around the border in your second desired color, slst into first stitch, fasten off and weave in ends.
paper:
(use any desired color your heart truly wishes for, however you can be basic and just use white or cream lol.)
1. ch 17
2. turn work over and sc in the back bar of the second chain from the hook and sc all the way to the end, ch 1 and turn work. (16)
3-10. (8 rows). 16sc, ch1, turn work (16)
assembly:
you'll match up the outer book cover and the "paper" together and sew them with the color you used for your book cover so it'll blend in. (note: the "paper" will be shorter than the book cover so when you fold them together, the "paper" edge doesn't stick past the book cover. don't freak out that it's not the same size because, you're right, it's not the same size lol.)
If you want to embroider a design to your book you can do that before or after sewing the "paper" to the book cover. If you don't want to show any of the embroidery stitches, you can sew the book shut by using a tapestry needle and the color of yarn you used for the book cover and sew them together and hide the ends in the book.

Good luck and happy crocheting and happy reading!!!
